Jetlag :: 2010-09-19

Jetlag + a full tummy = a very sleepy baby.

We are one day into our lag and we are all doing very well, all except Ede. She’s struggling just a wee bit. She has grown so much over these few months – walking, talking, and curls!

I just want to take this downtime to thank everyone involved in making our trip what it was. 11 workshops in 2.5 months was more then I could ever do by myself!!

Thanks to all our hosts, models, and to the photographers who came along – thankyou. A big thanks to Megan for being Megan and for all her help too.

I couldnt have posted another thing without sending out all these thankyou’s because there was just so much involved.

Back to de-jetlagging…shhhh.

Leaving Ohio felt a little rushed – we just adored it there. It was ‘Oh!’ so dreamy – gorgeous blue skies with fluffy white clouds, green fields, and the sweetest of people, especially our hosts Wendy and Tom from Wire and Twine. My kids had the bestest of visits hanging out with their kids and not only that, they got to do so many craft and cool activities that now I have a lot to live up to. They even got to visit school! Thank you so much Tom and Wendy! You both went above and beyond and we are truly thankful.

The workshops went off smoothly – thanks to everyone who came along! We have some wonderful feedback over on facebook.

These pics were taken at the last Ohio workshop and I am looking forward to having a look at all the pics because we really had such fun. I’m loathed to work on too many since Im on my laptop and really can’t tell how they are turning out too well, so I will wait till we are home in less then 3 weeks. Thanks to all our models who came along. And I know, truly, who gets to photograph butterflies that stay?! Well, Tom and Wendy breed butterflies and how could I resist?!

Vegas is…well.. Vegas. It is as expected. The girls have visited Build a Bear Workshop and later in the week we are taking them over to The Lion King. Its nice to have some downtime however we cant wait for LA!!

All the ways :: 2010-08-15

If I were to count, all the ways in which I love you, I would be counting an eternity..

Its so over-whelming ……

And this is just one of our gorgeous three. Talia is extraordinarily vibrant, friendly, and full of heart. So much so that sometimes we feel like her enthusiasm is like wildfire needing containment. When really, that kind of love for life is something every adult wishes for at one time or another.

As parents we have even sat down and talked amongst ourselves about how great life would be if we could just have one drop of Talia’s positive energy. Just one. She is like a radiant rainbow throwing droplets of sunshine into everyones life, including her sisters. She really is such a great big sister.

So here she is. Talia at her, nearly a teen – yet not quite, age of 9. Taken at a recent workshop.

One hotel morning :: 2010-08-14

Its true, living in hotels isn’t as luxurious as it sounds. Sure its exciting, and we feel over-whelmingly lucky however it has its down days. For example, when changing Ede’s nappy we have to stick the bin out in the hotel hallway or find a “trash can” elsewhere in case it stinks up our room. There’s nothing fancy about a poo-ey hotel room.

We have had many emails asking what we have been up to during our travels here in the States, and for us to document it a little. Well, I am going to attempt it. On facebook, I attempted to do a photo-a-day project which failed within 1 day. And if you’ve followed this blog for any measure of time you’ll know my 30 days of Ede didnt go so well either. Then theres the fact that I’m a photographer traveling with a not so great laptop when I should be working on a callibrated monitor – but, who cares, I’m flying by seat of my pants. My lust for documentation has held fast.

So here we are. In Oxford, Ohio. And what do you know, my first “documentry” post during our travels is about poo………….

And by now you’ve likely figured that Ede wakes up before everyone else so that she can have some quiet time every morning to stink up our room. All I can say is, she must enjoy that gorgeous morning light.

Sometimes I shake my head at my own honesty. Oh and btw, Oxford is beautiful!!!!

Well….we had an amazing time in Montana (as you have probably already figured out from previous posts). We finished our 3rd Montana workshop only 2 days ago and it feels like an eternity ago. I already miss Teresa, Montana and the wonderful photographers who came along. To those who did, thank you so very much for making the trip out and for being you. And of course, to our wonderful models also.

These are just a few of the many many shoots that we did – I had too many favs to pick from and since we are now having some down days in San Francisco thought better of spending it here on the laptop! So just a taste and will be sure to pop up more once Im home and on my usual pc!!!!

Pop over to our facebook page to see further goings on however – xoxoxoox.

Playing in Montana :: 2010-07-17

We are in photographers’ heaven. I think. Quite possibly. Hamilton Montana – the place we received emails about asking “why would you go there! There is NOTHING in Hamilton Montana!”…. Don’t worry I really do understand why someone might think that a small town might be boring and not worth visiting however, to a photographer – oh it is so so dreamy. Its actually 10 times the size of the town we live in (and run workshops from) – so we feel so at home here. I feel overwhelmed with the fact that Hamilton actually has a large supermarket and even a toy store. Not only that, Hamilton has our host, Teresa, and her family, showing us all the secret antique places to shop (one of our favourite things to do) and showing us round. I feel forever in her debt for sharing her corner of the world with us.

So, playing with light here in Montana is ‘oh’ so enjoyable. And since we have been on a roll with butterfly wings – it only seemed right. We have so many pics from the workshops to post, and we have only had 2 so far..however here’s my Penny Butterfly….
